Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa: Dhow Chasing: Play the original survivor games…With a setting of white sandy beaches surrounded by the crystal-clear water of the Indian Ocean and an historical journey back in time with the original east African dhows that have been sailing the Mozambican coast line for centuries, Allan Cameron from Survivor Media has created a unique “Dhow Chasing” activity. This once in a life-time experience offers guests a chance to play the original Survivor games – from “Skull Swings” to “Abacus Blocks” to sailing in a local hand-crafted dhow, where teams are pitted against each other to compete for “hostages” which are traded at each challenge. To ensure everyone’s participation, no matter their age or fitness level, the challenges are split into either physical (battle) or mental (bargain). The concept is simple (finish first with the most “hostages”); the challenge compelling and completely entertaining.Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa Snorkeling: Guests wishing to marvel at the marine life without having to put a tank on their back can go snorkeling amongst stunning tropical reefs featuring a diversity of exotic marine life. All equipment is provided and guests can choose between guided or unguided snorkeling.Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa Boat Trips: On boat trips offshore, you may be privileged to view dolphins and marine turtles, as well as whales and whale sharks at certain times of year. If you are very lucky you may view the rare dugong (sea cow), an endangered sea mammal that sparked early seafarers’ tales of mermaids. Boat trips to the nearby and deserted Paradise Island (Santa Carolina) for picnics and snorkeling can be arranged.

Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa Bird Watching: On land Bazaruto plays host to more than 180 species of birds, a vast range of Palaearctic migrants, 26 species of waders and huge flocks of pelicans and flamingoes in and around the coastal lakes and tidal pools. Bird lovers will revel in the splendour and diversity of our diverse bird life.

Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa Water Sports: Indigo Bay is stocked with a full range of water sport equipment. Guests looking for action can water-ski in the calm waters off the central beach or opt for fun variants thereof (such as wake-snakes, wake-boards, knee-boards and doughnuts). A range of non-motorised water sports, such as kayaking, windsurfing and Hobiecat sailing, is also on offer and we ensure that our equipment is up-to-date and well-maintained.

Indigo Bay Island Resort and Spa Dune Boarding: One of Bazaruto Island’s features is its spectacular high sand dunes, which makes for exhilarating dune boarding for the entire family. Our boards require very little skill to master and can be easily handled by children as well as adults. Whizzing down a sand dune with the azure Indian Ocean around you, is one of our more thrilling experiences.
